In short: we don't show ads, we don't track you, and we never sell your data. There are no analytics or advertising tools in the app.
Who we are Vakit is developed by Ahmet Agar, who is the data controller under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK). You can reach us at [support email].
What stays on your device The following stays on your iPhone (and Apple Watch) and never reaches us:
Your verse notes, bookmarks, khatms, daily goals and tasbih counts The fasts, tarawih and make-up days you mark during Ramadan Your notification and appearance settings Notifications: they are scheduled on your phone, not sent from a server, so we don't collect a push notification token. Camera: in the qibla camera view, the image is only shown on screen. It is never saved or sent anywhere. Photos: when you save an image from Share Studio, the app asks only for permission to add to your library. It never reads your photos. Apple Watch receives data only from your paired iPhone and doesn't connect to the internet. You can delete this data in Profile → Privacy Center. Deleting the app removes all of it.
What reaches our server Vakit gets prayer times from our own server (vakitapp-backend.netsta.net). To do that:
Approximate location. If you choose "Use my location", your approximate location (to about 1 km) is sent to our server to find your nearest district. If the server can't find one, the same location is checked with Apple's address service. We don't keep a location history. You can also pick your city and district from a list without giving location access.
App identifier. To talk to our server securely, the app creates an anonymous user ID with Firebase Authentication the first time you open it. It doesn't contain your name, email or phone number; it only proves that requests come from the app.
Account (optional). If you sign in with Apple, Google or email, your email address, user ID and, if you chose to share it with Sign in with Apple, your name are stored in Firebase Authentication and on our server. The account only lets you sign in and links your purchases to you.
Purchases. Apple processes Vakit Pro payments; we never see your card details. After a purchase, Apple's signed transaction record (which product, valid until when) is sent to our server to verify your subscription and link it to your account.
Technical logs. As with any internet request, our server keeps your IP address and the time of the request for [log retention period] days for security and troubleshooting, then deletes them.
Services we use Google Firebase Authentication (Google LLC): sign-in and account management. If you sign in with Google, Google Sign-In is used. Apple: purchases, Sign in with Apple and, when needed, the address service. everyayah.com: when you play a verse in the Quran, the audio streams from this site, which can see your IP address and which file you requested. If you don't play audio, the app doesn't connect to it. These services may store data outside Türkiye. Our server is located in [server location]. We don't share your data with anyone else, except with authorities when the law requires it.
Legal basis We process data to provide the service you ask for (KVKK Art. 5/2-c; GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and, for keeping the system secure, on the basis of our legitimate interest (KVKK Art. 5/2-f; GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Location is used only if you allow it.
Deleting your account In the app, go to Profile → Account → Delete Account to delete your account and your record on our server. You can also email a deletion request to [support email].
Your rights You can ask whether we process your data, request a copy, correction or deletion, find out who it was shared with, and object to processing. If you live in the EU, you also have the rights given by the GDPR, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Write to [support email]; we reply within 30 days.
Children Vakit is suitable for all ages and has no ads, tracking or chat. We don't knowingly collect account information from children under 13.
Changes If we update this policy, we'll publish the new version here and change the date above. For important changes, we'll also let you know in the app.
